My family and I enjoyed this tour because it really showcased the beautiful Black history of New Orleans in an authentic way. This tour is 100% worth the value that you’re paying for. The Whitney tour was very informative and educational and truly depicts what life was unfortunately like during slavery. The cultural tour highlighted Black Art, historical buildings, Hurricane Katrina, and the legacy of 9th ward. I also had the wonderful opportunity to meet Dr.Tate at the TEP Center and learn about desegregation in New Orleans. I was also able to learn about Second Line Celebration and black owned businesses that were in NOLA before gentrification.Dennis was an amazing tour guide and was also so kind enough to drop us off at our hotel. This tour was my favorite part about going to New Orleans ! This is something you cannot miss !

Whitney Plantation + Soul of New Orleans Combo Tour
Black History That Can’t Be Erased

Begin your day at the powerful Whitney Plantation, the only museum in Louisiana dedicated to interpreting the lives of the enslaved through their own voices and perspectives. Walk the grounds where generations of Africans endured unimaginable hardship and showed remarkable resilience. With a self-guided audio tour, you’ll explore preserved slave cabins, powerful memorials, and firsthand narratives that bring history to life offering space for reflection, truth, and understanding.

After returning to New Orleans, enjoy a lunch break to relax, reflect, and recharge before continuing your journey.

The second half of the day leads into the Soul of New Orleans City Tour, where we shift from the plantation to the pulse of the city streets exploring the unique system of urban slavery that shaped New Orleans in a very different way. From Congo Square to Tremé, from the Mississippi Riverfront to hidden corners of the French Quarter, you’ll learn how enslaved Africans built the city’s infrastructure and planted the seeds of its most enduring traditions.

This experience dives deep into the origins of jazz, Black masking culture, Mardi Gras Indians, and Creole identity, revealing how faith, art, and creativity turned pain into power. We draw a clear, honest line between plantation slavery and the cultural revolution that rose from it in the streets of New Orleans.

This is more than a tour — it’s a powerful, immersive journey that connects the past to the present. It’s Black history that can’t be erased, from the fields of suffering to the streets of celebration.
