Full description
Head out to San Sebastián de Palmitas, just 45 minutes from Medellín, to begin your unique coffee tour. After hotel pick-up, set off for a coffee-making farm and enjoy listening to a brief history about the origin of the coffee and how it was first brought to Colombia. Take the chance to dress in the typical costume of the paisa muleteer, including hat, poncho, paruma, and the tail of a rooster. Later, move on to a coffee plantation to carry out the coffee harvest, reducing the mixture to a pulp and finally, drying it. After these activities, sit down for a refreshing drink of musilago (coffee juice) and a tea made from the coffee pulp. Savor a typical dish from the region made of banana with honey and cheese. Hear your guide explain some techniques on how to prepare and drink coffee and have a short tasting of different coffees and servings. Later, try a typical dish of the paisa muleteer consisting of rice, yuca, ground beef, boiled egg, sausage, and banana. Try preparing your coffee to your own taste with the information you have just learned from your guide. Finally, receive a pack of coffee as a gift and have the chance to buy farm products at the shop. If the option is chosen, also experience a 2 hour horseback ride through the farm to some viewpoints. All instructions will be given to inexperienced riders.

It was great and very fun experience for me. Mateo was very fun and explained the whole coffee process in a very simple and funny way for everyone to understand. His uncle (the owner of the farm) was super nice as well. And for those who like riding horses I definitely recommend the horseback ride, the views are amazing!

BOOK THIS TOUR NOW! I expected an okay tour but they blew my expectations out of the water! Not only did we learn about coffee, but we left with skills like how to make the perfect cup, how to compare coffees abs choose the healthiest options, and the proper way to drink coffee for the best flavor profile. In addition, we picked coffee and walked through the whole coffee making process (before roasting) on the farm. The tour guides were super 9, funny, and down to take countless photos for your IG. we also had a traditional lunch that was pretty tasty as well! And to top it all off, I opted for the scenic horseback ride. As an inexperienced rider, I got a little scared at times, but there were multiple staff to help us out, and even guide my horse for me at times. I felt completely safe thanks to them. And again they were there to snap memorable shots during this unique experience! I can’t recommend this tour enough and i’m so grateful to have had Carlos and Mateo as tour guides!

Great experience! Don Carlos and his team are great and attentive. Don Carlos is very knowledgeable, prepare to learn A LOT about coffee and how to prep it. If you do the horse ride prepare to get messy and for the rocky terrain. This is an entire day experience so prepare for that and wear comfortable clothes. Great experience!
