Yax-ha- is an archaeological site and an ancient ceremonial center of the Mayan civilization located in the northeast of Petén. The Mayan name of the city is seen in its hieroglyphic emblem (which represents the head of a parrot) and is read as Yax (green), ha (water). The urban complex was occupied for 16 centuries 600 BC – 900 AD. We leave every day from Flores, from the letter that says I Love Peten, then we continue for approximately 2 hours to reach the site. It was perfect, the place is fantastic, full of history and other curiosities about the Mayan civilization. The guide knows a lot about the subject. It's very worth it. It's a four-hour walk, into the fascinating and intriguing history of one of the best-known pre-Columbian peoples.
