Full description

Travel out of Zürich for a scenic tour through dramatic natural landscapes and historic landmarks. Come across quaint villages and vast vineyards, and take the lift to the Rhine Falls.

Depart Zürich and journey towards the Swiss/German border of northern Switzerland. Travel through a beautiful wine-growing region of charming farming villages and picturesque landscapes en route to Laufen. See the splendid medieval castle of Schloss Laufen and the mighty Rhine Falls and experience Europe's biggest waterfall. Get unique views from the panoramic lift and discover what it looks like when an average of 700,000 liters of water per second plunges into the basin below.

If you are feeling adventurous, take the optional boat ride and experience the falls from below. Continue via Schaffhausen with its famous Munot Fortress. Soak up the views of the gently rolling vineyards and farming villages en route to Stein am Rhein.

Upon arrival, learn about the well-preserved old town during a stroll. See distinctive medieval buildings such as the church and former monastery of St. George's Abbey.

Look at the half-timber frame townhouses, along with the city gates and towers, the Town Hall, and the Armory. Admire the delicate wooden window frames of many of the buildings and marvel at their exceptional frescoes.

Definitely recommend this tour for people who have limited time for sightseeing. The waterfall is a must see attraction. The little town of Stein am Rhein had a small fest while we were there the guide gave a us a quick tour and we had about 30 minutes to pick up some souvenirs. This was the second tour I took with this company they are very rushed but perfect for people who just want to take a few pictures and get back on the bus. The guide left us at the bus to get entrance tickets to the waterfall and left three families. He should of realized he had 12 extra tickets. We didn't have his number, someone called the company to track him down. He met us at the elevator no apology, he blamed the bus driver for not checking the bus, gave us our tickets and we were on our way. The bus driver was strict with the no food or beverages on the bus. He mistook my small souvenir bag for food and told me I couldn't bring it on the bus. I showed him the contents and he let me go to my seat.

Meet up spot was easy to find. The falls were beautiful. It was a bit confusing and chaotic with all the people there but a must see for sure. The town Stein am Rhein was great because the Christmas market was still going on and we were able to get food from the stands.

The Rhine Falls were a fantastic experience - they are gorgeous! Even in the winter when the water is supposed to be less, there is sich beauty is it. The Stein am Rhein was an average experience. Maybe because there were too many stalls for the Christmas and New Years, some of the charm of the actual village got lost. The sunset over the lake was amazing though. The guide Francesca was okay, she gave us history about the region and about Zurich. Overall, it was good.
