Full description
A sightseeing tour around the IJsselmeer lake is a popular outing. Make it a one-stop trip! Head to the Zuiderzee Museum for a one-day tour from the town of Enkhuizen, across the Afsluitdijk dike and the Wadden Sea Islands to Frisian towns like Hindeloopen and Makkum. On your way back again, stop at the province of Noord-Holland for the chance to visit the villages of Marken and Volendam. Avoid the crowds in Volendam and head to the Zuiderzee Museum. Walk the tiny streets with authentic Zuiderzee cottages, take in the aroma of freshly smoked fish, photograph your children in traditional Volendam costumes, taste farm cheese in the cheese warehouse and enjoy a short boat ride from the car park to the outdoor museum. Relive the Zuiderzee life of yesteryear in a single day!

Attractive, interesting but nothing really outstanding, except for the smoked fish. This museum is now oriented more for younger people than for octogenarians like us. We would have liked to see more of the old boats in the water than we could. The indoor oat museum could have ben interesting but the lighting was dim and the information only available in one place which caused us to walk back and forth far too much.

Everything worked very well. From the parking lot we were taken to the museum by ferry. I can really recommend this open-air museum. Actors slip into roles such as laundress, fisherman, second-hand clothes seller... I got a good insight into the life of fishermen at that time. Great location right on the ijselmeer (formerly Zuiderzee).

Very worthwhile. From the parking lot it goes underground through the dike (that's interesting in itself) to the ferry that commutes to the museum. The actual museum area is very nicely laid out with a large number of houses. In addition to the outdoor area, which is also very nice for children with a variety of ideas, there is a museum outside the premises with a very nice exhibition. The card is valid all day for the outdoor area and the museum as well as the transfer by ferry. Parking fee of 6e is calculated separately.
