Join a day trip from Belgrade to explore the beautiful landscapes of Western Serbia's countryside. Gaze at the unusual Drina River House, explore the Mokra Gora Wooden Village, and discover the historic Sargan 8 Railroad in the company of your guide. Our first stop is Drina River House, a unique house built on a rock in the middle of the Drina River. Take in the stunning scenery and snap some unforgettable photos of this specific sight. This part of Serbia is known for growing raspberries and we recommend that you try the homemade raspberry juice here. Next, we'll head to Mokra Gora Wooden Village, a picturesque village located in the mountains. Enjoy the fresh mountain air and explore the charming wooden houses and streets. The village was built as a filming location by the famous director Emir Kusturica. Our final stop will be at the Sargan 8 Railroad, a narrow-gauge heritage railway that winds through the stunning mountain landscapes. We'll board the train and embark on a journey of breathtaking views, including tunnels, bridges, and impressive curves, all while enjoying the cozy atmosphere of the historic train. After the train ride we will have some time for late lunch and we suggest you to try some local specialties, such as roasted lamb or "komplet lepinja" - bread that is filled with kajmak (a type of Balkan cream cheese) and two fried eggs. Throughout the day, you'll have a knowledgeable and friendly guide at your disposal, who will share with you interesting facts and stories about the history, culture, and people of Serbia. Our mini vans for tours are comfortable, well-maintained, ensuring a pleasant and reliable travel experience. IMPORTANT: From November 17th to April 1st (except December 21st to January 19th), the Šargan 8 Railroad is closed for visits. During this period, instead of the train ride, you'll have the chance to explore Tara National Park (3 Eur per person) with a visit to the scenic Banjska Stena viewpoint, an easy hiking activity. In case of rain or snow, we’ll take you to the center of Zlatibor, one of Serbia's most beloved destinations for leisure.

In the morning, your #destinationserbia tour guide will pick you up from your accommodation. We will set off for Mokra Gora village, acclaimed “The Best Tourism Village in the World” by World Tourism Organization. After approximately 45 minutes of driving, we will reach our first stop – Wooden Town (Drvengrad) village. This complex represents a proper small town, with all the amenities one town needs, and it looks like it has stood in the same place for centuries – except it hasn't! The whole place was built in the last 20 years but still represents the traditional architecture of Western Serbia and is a meeting place for artists and guests from all over the world, especially during the Kustendorf film and music festival in January. After visiting Wooden Town, we will proceed to the Shargan Eight railroad. This historic railway once formed part of the route connecting Belgrade to Dubrovnik on the Adriatic coast via Sarajevo. Passengers traversed the rugged Balkan landscapes aboard these vintage carriages, immersing themselves in the natural splendor of the region. While the railway was eventually overshadowed by modernization, a 15km stretch of the line has been meticulously restored and is now one of Serbia's premier tourist attractions. Here, we embark on a nostalgic journey aboard a century-old train, marveling at the pristine beauty of Shargan and Tara National Park. Prepare to be transported back in time as we traverse this engineering marvel, soaking in the unspoiled wilderness and rich history of the region. After ride, we resume our journey, heading towards the majestic slopes of Tara mountain. Renowned as one of Serbia's five national parks, Tara stands out for its untamed wilderness, offering a glimpse into nature's unspoiled beauty. Here, the landscape remains largely untouched by human intervention, boasting lush evergreen forests that cloak its slopes and provide sanctuary to a diverse array of wildlife. Tara's biodiversity is truly remarkable, with brown bears being among its most celebrated inhabitants. With a bit of luck, we might even catch a glimpse of these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat. Our exploration of Tara continues as we visit the Zmajevac viewpoint, Zaovine and Spajići lakes, and, of course, Banjska Stena, the most famous viewpoint on Tara mountain. We'll also have the opportunity to see Pančićeva Omorika, a type of spruce tree unique to Tara mountain. After visiting Mitrovac village, we'll descend to Perućac lake and the Drina river. Along the way, we'll visit Vrelo river – 365m long, one for every day of the year. Finally, we'll arrive at the world-famous House on the Rock, situated in the middle of the Drina river. The photo of this house was even featured as Photo of the Month in National Geographic magazine, bringing fame to this unique place. As our journey comes to an end, we'll take you back to your accommodation.

At 8a.m your #destinationserbia tour guide will pick you up from your accommodation. We set off to Western Serbia, and on our way we’ll pass through Užice – the biggest town and the center of Western Serbia. A brief stop in Užice allows us to explore Stari Grad, a 14th-century fortress perched on a cliff high above the Djetinja River valley, providing stunning views of the town. After a short stop we head to Zlatibor, arriving approximately 25 minutes later. Starting from the tourist center of Zlatibor, we’ll take a ride on Gold Gondola panoramic cable car. This extraordinary 9km-long cable car, the longest in the world, links the tourist center with Tornik, Zlatibor's highest peak (1496m) and a renowned ski center. Over a 30-minute panoramic ride, we'll enjoy the view over the sprawling slopes and meadows of Zlatibor, and Ribnica Lake, a Zlatibor gem popular for swimming during the hot summer months. Returning to the Zlatibor center, we continue our journey to Stopica Cave, a natural wonder famous for its "siga" or limestone pools, subterranean water slopes, and cave formations. After delving into the cave's depths, we head to our next destination—Sirogojno village. The Old Village museum awaits, preserving traditional architecture, ways of life, and customs of Western Serbia's people. Original wooden houses, transported from surrounding villages, stand as a testament to ancestral heritage. After getting familiar with the culture of Western Serbia we will go to Ljubiš village. Here, cuisine takes center stage, and we'll indulge in the flavors of the region at a family-owned traditional restaurant. Experience the simplicity and incredible taste of local dishes, accompanied by a sampling of rakija, a traditional Serbian drink. After a long day of exploring Western Serbia, we set off for Belgrade, where we’ll reach in the evening. Drop off at your accommodation.

See beautiful mountain resort and enjoy plenty of activities out in the fresh mountain air. Have a ride on the longest panoramic lift in the world - Gold Gondola - which takes you to the highest point of Zlatibor - Tornik. We'll visit local market where you'll be able to try authentic village food like fresh vegetables, smoked meat, rakija, honey and many kinds of dairy products that are made by locals from that neighborhood. Wooden cottages are famous for that region and there is one special open-air museum Sirogojno which is a perfect scenery to try "Šumadija tea" with mountain herbs and rakija. Go into the Stopića cave with famous cave baths that were carved by nature for thousands of years. Nature granted this area with another jewel, which is Gostilje waterfall with long slaps that go down for tens of meters.

If you don’t believe that time travel is possible, think again. You will have a unique opportunity to experience train ride that goes through inaccessible terrain in a narrow eight-shaped railway track. The route is from the base of Tara mountain to a village called Šargan. Take a ride on the “Ćira”, a one-of-a-kind tourist museum railway. Drvengrad is our next stop where you will see enchanting ethno village made by Emir Kusturica, famous film director. In this gorgeous oasis just beside Mokra Gora, you can see authentic log cabins and enjoy traditional Serbian cuisine with a view from a hilltop "Mećavnik" Take a deep breath while visiting Zlatibor mountain. Enjoy nature next to the lake and drink coffee in one of may restaurants surrounding it. Taste local food in traditional open air market and try out typical food from western Serbia area.

As the largest of three lakes created by dams on the Uvac river, Zlatar Lake is a picturesque setting with dense evergreen forests reflecting in its crystal-clear waters, offering a perfect photo opportunity to start the day. After a brief stop at Zlatar Lake, our journey continues to the Uvac Special Nature Reserve. Nestled between the Zlatar and Javor mountains, as well as the Sjenica and Nova Varoš municipalities, this protected natural park is our next destination. Here, we'll embark on a boat cruise along the meanders of the Uvac canyon. During the cruise, our guide will share stories about the canyon's most famous inhabitants, the griffon vultures, as well as tales of the traditional way of life of the shepherds who have lived here for centuries. We'll also learn about the Imperial Road that once ran through this area, connecting Dubrovnik and Constantinople. After the boat ride, we'll have the opportunity to visit the Ice Cave, named for its constant temperature of 8 degrees Celsius throughout the year. This 2.5km-long cave showcases stunning formations formed over millions of years, resembling ice-like sculptures. Next, we'll begin a hike up the canyon, lasting approximately 30 minutes, to reach the top and Veliki Vrh viewpoint. The hike is steep, so comfortable and sturdy footwear is recommended. From the viewpoint, we'll marvel at the panoramic views of the canyon and witness the majestic flight of griffon vultures. We'll take a break to refresh and indulge in a local delicacy—pancakes made of buckwheat flour filled with kajmak. Descending back to the boat, we'll cruise back to our starting point and return to our vehicle. If desired, we can stop for a lunch break at one of the local restaurants serving delicious Western Serbian cuisine. Late in the afternoon, we'll conclude our adventure and return to Zlatibor or Užice.

Our first stop will be at Zmajevac viewpoint, offering panoramic views of Zaovine lake nestled in the palm of your hand. This viewpoint is on one of the lesser-known roads across Tara, providing a scenic route with stunning landscapes. Next, we'll visit Zaovine lake, an artificial marvel blending seamlessly into the landscape with its crystal-clear turquoise water. Besides its beauty, this lake is also an engineering feat, connected to Perućac lake by a 9km-long underground pipe. We'll also explore Spajići lake, located nearby, which is where the Pančićeva Omorika, a type of spruce tree endemic to Tara mountain, was first discovered. We’ll get to see this mountain beauty and learn more about this unique tree. We'll continue our journey to the nearby Karaklije village, where our hiking adventure to Janjač peak begins. Rising to an altitude of 1473 meters, Janjač is one of Tara's highest peaks, offering spectacular views over Zaovine lake on one side and the town of Višegrad with its famous Bridge on the Drina river on the other. This iconic bridge was immortalized in a Nobel Prize-winning novel of the same name. As we ascend, you'll witness the historical significance of Janjač, once a border between empires and now between Serbia and Bosnia, and traces of past wars. Hike lasts approximately 1.5 hours, including the return journey to the car. Our next destination is Banjska Stena, undoubtedly the highlight of Tara mountain. Renowned for its breathtaking views overlooking Perućac lake and the majestic Drina river canyon, this spot is a photographer's paradise. We'll take a short hike here, allowing time to capture stunning photos and soak in the natural beauty. Our final stop, before returning to Zlatibor, is the Sokolarica viewpoint. From this vantage point, we'll be treated to panoramic views of the Rača river canyon, characterized by its dramatic cliffs and pine forests. As the day comes to a close, we'll make our way back to Zlatibor or Užice, reflecting on the incredible adventure we've had.
