Gertwiller: Alsace Cellar Tour, Wine Tasting & Picnic Basket

Gertwiller: Alsace Cellar Tour, Wine Tasting & Picnic Basket

We welcome you to the cellar with a glass of wine to start the tasting. We will then watch an informative video on the Alsace wine-making process (adapted for children). We will take you to visit the family cellar dating back to 1850, and discover the century-old oak barrels that we still use to make our wines. In 2020 following the organic conversion of the entire estate, we renovated our cellar and now use this new space to offer our visitors a new activity. We have a scenographic experience in the cellar with a 180° immersive video projected on barrels : unique in France... This movie is not a remake of the video about wine-making process...but a movie about our rich personal history, and about our work philosophy. The whole experience is projected in the cellar, on century-old oak barrels at 180° (mapping on some sequences) with sound work, throwing the audience in total immersion in our story. We will end the tasting in the wine shop. Then we will give you your picnic basket to take away and enjoy in the vines or at home. It includes : 1 pretzel, bread, a selection of 3 cheeses, a selection of 3 delikatessen, a small bottle of water, 1/2 bottle of wine, a fruit and muffin, cutlery, a napkin and a bag. Some hike tips will be given in the bag as well. A vegetarian picnic basket is available, please let us know in advance. For children, the same picnic basket will be given to them if they have a reseravtion. You can also not register the children, the visit is free for them (but they will not have any picnic basket). A guide is at your disposal throughout the whole experience to exchange and answer your questions.

Very good discovery and great time. Between family, friends, couples, the tasting is great and so is the visit. If you don't know anything about the history of Alsace wine, Marthe is an excellent guide. Tea time is plentiful between savory and sweet, whether with meat or vegetarian. We have adored! :) x
