Love the ride up. Directions can be confusing, so here is what you need to do if arriving before check in at your Zermatt hotel. 1. Store luggage in lockers in lower level of Zermatt train station 2. The bathrooms(WC) are next to the lockers 3. Go back up to the start level and cross the street and board the GREEN bus which is FREE that is headed toward Glacier Express Paradise. There are only 2 buses. Red and Green. (Usually there will be a crowd waiting for the green bus) 4. Take the bus all the way to the last stop. You’ll see a huge sign for “Glacier Express Paradise.” 5. Exchange your voucher AT THE WINDOW not the Kiosk. 6. You get off at Stag and take the 2nd granola up. Around 8,000 feet is where the 1st granola ends. Again follow the crowd of people.
An expensive but thoroughly amazing experience. The cable car journeys on two days were so different (one in brilliant sunshine and one in flurries of snow) but each had us amazed by the breath-taking views of the Matterhorn and the surrounding mountain range.
