Experience the fun hustle and bustle of this busy market and admire the multitude of foods on offer.   Your next stop will be at Swahili House restaurant, the best place to watch the sun go down. As you watch the sky change colors, enjoy some soft drinks or local beers made in Tanzania. Afterwards, explore the streets of the city, which has itself been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Hear stories about the city and see where the locals gather to celebrate events, watch football, or just have tea and play some games. Continue walking to Forodhani Garden, which hosts a popular street food market in the evenings. Try out local foods and drinks like Zanzibar Pizza,

urojo soup, shawarma, sugarcane juice, spice tea, coffee, and more.   Your tour will end at 8:00 PM, at which point you’ll be taken back to your hotel.

Not sure how to classify this tour. I wouldn’t call it a street food tour as it was a walk around Stone Town, a stop at a roof bar for a beer and then walk to food market where you get to try three things. One from each stall and they are situated next to each other. The total cost of what you will consume in this tour is less than $10 USD. So the price is steep for what you get. That being said we got to try things that normally we wouldn’t and they tasted good.

Our guide was Ahmad. Such a lovely person. Extremely friendly, helpful and totally committed. Ahmad explained everything. We learned a lot from him about the markets, Stone Town and the food. Just the visit to Mr. Mango - just great. The stands that Ahmad took us to were great. The food is really delicious. All in all - top class! Ahmad made 2 friends from Germany. If we should come back, we'll be happy to book again - with Ahmad of course!

The tour is def worth it if you dont know your way round, and since they pick you up at the hotel it's probably even more useful if you are not in Stown Town. However, our hotel was in Stone Town and what they showed us we had chanced upon during the day anyway. So, not really their fault and Ahmed was a really great and kind guy. However, only 4* for me coz we were a group of three, of which two were kids - who couldnt actually eat all the food. The company shd give a considerable discount in my eyes - they paid only one guide and they saved money on the food too, and they could pass on the savings whilst still making good money. So, do the tour if you are new in town. Ask for a discount if you are a group, esp when with kids. ;)
