From Stone Town: Spice Tour of Zanzibar

It was a really interesting tour! We saw different spices (cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, nutmeg, turmeric, cloves, pepper) and fruits (mango, avocado, jackfruit, guava). Our guide explained the plants as well as the ways of harvesting and the traditional use of the spices. We could even try the majority of them. At the end, there was a coconut climber, singing the traditional Jambo song. (Be prepared to be expected to give tips to the guide, his assistant and the climber). You could also buy perfumes, soaps and the different spices.

The tour was great. Proficient communication about the pick-up, lovely guide (from the spice farm itself) and interesting well told information about the farm and local habits. You get to touch, smell and taste (if possible) the spices. At the end, you receive some handmade gifts, some fruit to eat and you watch a coconut climber get a fresh coconut for you.
