Snorkel in the most colorful underwater world with a huge variety of fish, corals, turtles and other fascinating sea creatures. Learn about the marine life, forest, and nature reserve from professional guides. Enjoy a tour of one of the eco-bungalows available for overnight guests, and taste the delicious Swahili cuisine for lunch. The Chumbe Island Coral Park is an award-winning private nature reserve and one of the last pristine coral islands around. It is the home of many rare and endangered animals that are protected here. The park includes a fully protected coral reef sanctuary and forest reserve, a visitor and education center, nature trails, historical ruins, and eco-bungalows for overnight guests. Snorkeling gear and wetsuits are available to borrow before your experienced guide and a professional marine biologist take you on the most beautiful snorkeling tour you may have ever experienced. The almost untouched reef includes over 400 species of fish, more than 200 species of corals, turtles, friendly sharks, and many more. After you return, a delicious buffet with dessert is served. The rest of the day you can relax at the beach, enjoy the many sitting areas at the education center and around the island, or you can go on a guided nature trail walk. As a Marine Protected Area, the number of guests on the island is limited to 14 persons. Day trip bookings can only be made if there is availability in the lodge. We would highly recommend this tour for all of those who would like to experience a well-protected island and reef and to learn more about Zanzibar's unique vegetation and marine life. Overall, we had a great day on Chumbe island. It was a relaxing day with nice activities planned including snorkelling in the protected reef, lunch, and a nature walk. We learned a lot about the flora and fauna of the island and had a very nice time talking to the crew. After seeing how eco-tourism was approached at Chumbe, I hope that other resorts can adopt more sustainable practices to ensure a bright future for Zanzibar. It was really great that they also use the island for educational purposes to give local kids the chance to learn more about the sea. The only thing I would suggest to improve is the snorkelling tour as our guide did not point out a lot of things, but it was nice to have the freedom to explore the reef on our own as well.

We spent the day in family and the experience was just amazing! Ben , the marine biologist explained us everything about the organization and their work to preserve this pristine island. Along our way to the island, we had the chance to see dolphins and humpback whales. We went snorkeling for a while and we were able to see beautiful fishes and corals but dead ones too. It makes you realize all the work they have done to save the coral park! Life comes back again. We had a delicious lunch facing the sea and we went to take a tour to the lighthouse. The view up there is astonishing. We spent a day out of time with professional people who shared also their passion with us. We visited the bungalows and I will surely come back and stay there!!!! If you are in Zanzibar, don't miss out and book!
