Full description
The first stop on your private tour of Istra's gems from Zagreb is Hum, which Croatians like to call the smallest city in the world. It is situated in the heart of Istra, and was once the most famous center of the Croatian Glagolitic script, which can be seen on historical monuments such as the Glagolitic walkway connecting Hum and Roc.

The next stop is Pazin, home of the medieval fortress known as Kastel, which inspired Jules Vern to set part of his novel Mathias Sandorf in the area. This wonderful town has many other sights to see as well, such as the church of St. Nicolas and the Franciscan Church of Visitation.

The most famous Istrian medieval city is Motovun. The well-known film festival takes place there every year, but the popularity of this place is also due to its architecture. Sights include the church of St. Stephen, with its separate bell tower, serrated battlements, gates and walls, and the enchanting streets and squares. Together these places make Motovun a magical town to wander around.

Finally, your tour will visit a small but significant place called Zavrsje. This town was surrounded by walls and had two entrances. Today, the city core of Zavrsje is a protected urban unit entered in the Register of Croatian Cultural Monuments. Among its preserved buildings, three churches, the castle and the south entrance gates stand out.
