Make your way to York’s Chocolate Story in the historic heart of York. Meet the guide and spend 1 hour and 15 minutes on an entertaining tour of the attraction. Discover the secrets of making delicious chocolate as you explore the facility’s 3 floors filled with interactive exhibitions. Join a guided tour to explore the history of chocolate, from the discovery of the cocoa bean thousands of years ago to the world famous chocolate-making families of York. Listen as your knowledgeable guide brings the process to life, and hands out the occasional taster, of course. Towards the end of your visit you’ll have a chance to make your own chocolate creation and watch a chocolatier at work, perfect for adults and children alike. Our guide was knowledgeable and answered all the questions we threw her way. The tour was good and an interesting activity, a bit scripted but the staff guide multiple tours per day so it’s easy to fall into the habit. I’m glad we did it and would recommend going but I wish there was more time to look around each room and the treat bags could certainly improve. The chocolate lollies tasted lovely!

Felt a little bit rushed towards the end as the group behind us caught up with us and we seemed rushed through. Unsure if this may have been the result of a disruption in our group which Charlie the guide did his best to reduce/ keep in control, but he was struggling

Highly recommended tour! Our guide JAMIE was fun and knowledgeable. Treat bags. Make your own chocolate lollypop and decorate it. Good history of the Rowntree Family Chocolate Story done in a fun CG way with a talking person rather than reading cards on display. The history of chocolate making from the Mayans through to the current day is brilliantly done. Taste Mayan cacao drink. Taste victorian chocolate. Taste humbugs. Enjoy a Kitkat. Highly recommended complete value for money and more tour to add to your York visit agenda. Disability accessible and friendly with a lift to the floors. Tracy.
