Full description
Discover the secrets of what the natives call the pink pearl of Armenia, a magical Eastern European capital city built of the local pink stone called tuf.

Though Yerevan is a modern, cosmopolitan European capital, its rich cultural history dates back 2,800 years. Your tour of discovery begins in the Republic Square with it magnificent buildings framing singing fountains and continues down Abovyan Street, one of Yerevan’s oldest thoroughfares and formerly a section of the Silk Road. From its ancient precincts, emerge onto Northern Avenue, built specifically for pedestrian traffic into the most modern part of the city.

Next up, the Cascade, a huge white stairwell built into a Yerevan hillside featuring water fountains along its length reminiscent of a natural cascade in a river or stream. The Cascade is emerging as one of the focal points in Yerevan, similar to the Republic Square. It offers spectacular views of Mount Ararat and the city center.

From there you will walk down Baghramyan Avenue to see the Parliament House, the Presidential Palace and the "Lover's Park." Continue to the southern part of the city by Yerevan subway to visit Armenia’s largest house of worship, St. Gregory the Illuminator’s Church built in 2001 to commemorate Armenia's 1700th anniversary of Christianity.

From there it's a short walk to the City Bazaar, a real living “museum of food” where you will be greeted by vendors asking you to sample their goods. Find delicacies including delicious homemade dried fruits stuffed with nuts, paper thin fruit ‘lavash’, ‘sujukh’ (local walnuts threaded on string and dipped in grape molasses), fresh ‘lavash’ bread and organic fruit and vegetables along with exotic herbs and spices.
