Full description
Venture beyond the city center of Yangon, Myanmar’s largest city and former capital, and discover a real cross-section of life. Hop on the slow train for a unique tour to observe the lively happenings of the urban lifestyle.

Meet your guide, and then head to Yangon Central Railway Station to catch the commuter train that services the metropolitan area. The 45.9 kilometer, 39-station loop connects several satellite towns and suburban areas. It is also one of the best ways to discover the real city!

On the way to Railway Station, pop into St. Mary’s Cathedral to see how it differs from the other churches in the city. Get back on the train and head to Insein Station. Take the rest of 1- hour train ride to Yangon Station where your day's exploration is going to end.

Take the entire 3-hour loop, and make a pit stop at Da Nyin Gone Station, where you will visit a local market full of life. Spend about 45 minutes wandering around the stalls, meeting vendors and observing the way of life. Learn about the commodities that are basic necessities, and grab a coffee or tea from one of the shops.

Upon arrival, enjoy lunch at one of the local restaurants and participate in a favorite pastime of the residents as you watch people going about their everyday lives.

Hit the road after lunch, and walk off some of the calories on streets lined with bike repair shops, tire sellers and vendors selling everything from betel nuts to Burmese buns. By now you’ll have a full taste of Yangon, near and far, including its impressive colonial and spiritual heritage, evident throughout the city and its suburbs.
