Xi'an: Daci'en Temple(Great Wild Goose Pagoda) E-ticket

The Great Wild Goose Pagoda, also known as the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, is an iconic symbol of ancient Chinese architecture and Buddhist culture, located in Xi'an, Shaanxi Province, China. Originally built in 652 during the Tang Dynasty by the Buddhist monk Xuanzang, who had just returned from his seventeen-year journey to India to collect sacred texts, the pagoda served as a place to house the Buddhist scriptures and figurines he brought back. Standing at a height of 64.5 meters (212 feet), this magnificent structure is a prime example of traditional Chinese pagoda architecture. The original seven-story structure was later expanded to ten stories during the reign of Emperor Zhongzong of the Tang Dynasty. However, due to natural disasters and wars, it was reduced to its current seven stories. The Great Wild Goose Pagoda is not only a religious monument but also a testament to the architectural prowess of ancient China. Constructed primarily of brick and wood, the pagoda features intricate carvings and designs that reflect the artistic tastes of the Tang Dynasty. Its exterior is adorned with arched doorways and windows, while the interior holds precious Buddhist artifacts and historical inscriptions. Visitors to the pagoda can climb the narrow staircases to reach the upper levels, offering panoramic views of Xi'an city and the surrounding landscape. Each level provides a glimpse into the history and significance of Buddhism in China, with displays of statues, murals, and ancient texts. The Great Wild Goose Pagoda is not just a static monument; it remains a vibrant center for Buddhist worship and cultural activities. Regularly, Buddhist ceremonies and festivals are held here, attracting both locals and tourists alike. It stands as a living link between the past and present, connecting modern-day visitors with the rich spiritual heritage of ancient China. In recognition of its historical and cultural importance, the Great Wild Goose Pagoda was designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2014 as part of the Silk Road: Chang'an-Tian Shan Corridor Route. This designation ensures its preservation for future generations, allowing people worldwide to appreciate its beauty and significance.

anges from Catherine Lu's tours was my tour guide and she was exceptional! she picked me up with the driver from the train station and her English was incredible! super knowledgeable taught me so much about the history of terracotta army which was simply brilliant I couldn't of asked for a better tour! the whole day was seamless. Catherine lu sent me my itinerary a few days before hand in great detail so there was no way anything could go wrong. driver picked up me directly from my hotel at 5.30am took me to the train station and from there it was a piece of cake!!!! Catherines instructions are incredibly clear and all signs in train stations also come in English! security scanned my passport, the bullet train had my cart number so really easy I just relaxed and witnessed the beautiful Chinese countryside on my way to Xi'an! after the tour I was dropped off at the train station grabbed food and did the same jounery back to Beijing where my driver was waiting for me. 10/10 experience!!!

To me, this is perhaps one of the more "daring" tour to do considering that it involves a 4.5 hr bullet train ride out of Beijing to another city, Xi'An. But life is short and this tour is an easy way to come away feeling accomplished in your travels. The whole tour is very well organized. My tour included pickup and dropoff at my hotel. Thanks to Cindy as my coordinator for making everything flawless and for being so responsive prior to and throughout my tour. My exceptional gratitude goes to my tour guide, Julia. She is elegantly articulate in the English language and flawless in her explanation of the history and features of the terracoata exhibits. The exhibit site itself is very thoughtfully preserved and adapted for visitors. Thank you, Julia, for bringing this part of history alive to me! The bullet train ride is nothing short of marvelous. It is one very good way to have a sense of China's infrastructural maturity. I highly recommend this tour! It is a must-do!

This was an amazing tour and experience! Totally worth the money. Although it was very expensive, we could not have imagined trying to accomplish all this on our own in a day. Our guide, Amber was amazing and very friendly. Highly recommend this tour!

It's was a good way to see the the Terracotta army without havibg to change city (hotel n flights)! Our guide, Agnes, was very nice, passioned and knowledgeable. It's was also nice to experience the bullet train (>350km/h).

Very good organisation. Great way to see the Teracotta worriors from Beijing in one day. Our guide Agnes was amazing, she knows a lot about old chinas history.
