Discover the ancient capital of Xi’an on a full-day sightseeing tour to the world-famous Terracotta Army and Wild Goose Pagoda. Explore the archaeological site of Banpo Village on an 8-hour excursion back through Chinese history.
What to Expect
This 8-hour tour of Xi’an gives you a comprehensive introduction to the ancient wonders of the former Chinese capital, with visits to the Terra Cotta Warriors, the Big Goose Pagoda and the archaeological site of Banpo Village.
As one of the ancient capitals of China, Xi’an has become one of the most visited historical centers in Asia and is a true contender for housing the 8th Wonder of the World with its unique Terracotta Army of the Qin Dynasty.
First you will visit the archaeological site of Banpo Village, built more than 6,000 year ago. Discover how the resident matriarchic tribe used to survive in the Neolithic age. The site hosts a collection of utensils and a reconstruction of the primitive buildings typical of the village.
Afterwards, continue to one of China’s most fabled attractions, the Emperor’s Terracotta Army. The size of a real army, the terracotta warriors and horses were buried 2,000 years ago alongside the Emperor in a vast underground palace.
They were discovered by accident in the 1970s and constitute a spectacular monument to the power and resources of Imperial China, and to the religious beliefs that informed Chinese spirituality throughout the ages.
The tour ends with a visit to the Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, built in the 7th-Century to house more than 1,300 Buddhist scriptures brought back from India by the monk Xuan Zang along the Silk Road.
You will have the services of an expert guide throughout the day and will pause for a typical lunch at a local restaurant. At the end of the tour you will be transferred back to your hotel in the city.
