When you arrive for this graffiti experience, an easel and art paper will be set up for you along with a table full of spray paint in a variety of colors. First, you will be taken through a step-by-step lesson with a facilitator on how to use spray paint. You’ll start with the basics: how to hold, angle, and handle the spray can, how to manipulate the pressure and length of the spray to create paint dots and lines of different sizes and widths, and how to write letters. Moving on to more complex skills, you’ll learn how to make a drop shadow, backgrounds and patterns, and a color gradient. After going through the skills of the lesson, you will have time to experiment and create an art piece of your own. The facilitator will be there to give guidance and tips, and to answer questions while working alongside you. Masks and gloves are on hand for personal protection.
