Full description
Explore the most beautiful secular Gothic building in Wrocław with a guide. The Old Town Hall in Wrocław survived World War II virtually intact. For this reason, today we can admire the beautiful interior of the town hall. This is the largest Gothic town hall in Poland - it is worth visiting, especially with a guide who will tell many breathtaking stories about this place.
We start the tour outside the town hall, in front of the "Świdnicka Cellar". This is the oldest medieval restaurant in Wrocław. It has beautiful traditions and, like the town hall, dates back to the 16th century. It was this restaurant that Wrocław students liked, where they met, drank the famous "Biały Aries" and fought with swords. More than one student pawned all his clothes so that he could drink his fill. In the early morning, naked students with swords were seen heading to their homes.
First we see the Wrocław Market Square. This is the largest market in Poland today! We walk around the Town Hall and approach the Pillary - this is where Wrocław's citizens were executed in the Middle Ages.
We enter the Old Town Hall. It's like traveling back in time to medieval Wrocław. The beautiful interiors, as if taken from the 14th century, delight with old details; stained glass windows, bay windows and tracery. The rooms are decorated, as befits the seat of the Wrocław city authorities, with beautiful cross-rib vaults with numerous coats of arms, portals and sculptures. The huge representative Great Hall and the famous Council Chamber, where until 1808 the meetings of the Wrocław City Council were held, make a great impression.
Our tour of the interior of the town hall begins... there are plenty of exciting stories ahead of you, sometimes dark and bloody, sometimes surprising and funny. Each room reveals its mysterious stories to us. Let yourself be surprised. Listen, see, it's a journey to the old world.
