This is a small but very interesting museum, on the site of a WWII prisoner of war camp part of which was where the actual events of The Great Escape took place. Our museum guide was extremely knowledgeable and enthusiastic to share his this knowledge with us. We visited a few weeks before the 80th Anniversary of the escape when thousands of visitors are expected including relatives of those brave men who took part. The site of the tunnel is about 1km away in the woods. Our driver Jacob took us to this, he was also very knowledgeable and provided us with interesting facts. It was a trip well worth making if you are interested this part of our history.
A fantastic trip - really interesting and informative. The museum itself may be small but it contains a wealth of information and artefacts. Then driving to the site of Harry makes you appreciate the massive scale of the camp. Jacob was a brilliant guide - friendly, chatty, helpful and full of knowledge.
