Plan your visit to avoid school holidays! I thought they couldn't cram any more people in.......seemed to be no account of number of people allowed to enter so the abbey was very full. Even when you pay in advance there is no separate queue, you simply join in with people paying on the day. This impacted on trying to see all the abbey had to offer, felt like a cattle market at times, especially in the smaller rooms/tombs. Audio guide not really practical, left a lot out and was unable to "find" some of the tombs being described. I did enjoy the experience and I would go again but will plan accordingly.

Expect to share the 'space' with many other visitors. There is a route round which is shown in the leaflet you can pick up on entry, also there are audio guides, possibly pre-bookable. The diamond jubilee gallery is payable separately to view. Photography in main abbey is said to not be allowed but on my asking a member of staff it is, BUT NO flash or video-ing. I found a queue outside to get in when i arrived (with my entry timed ticket) but it was quick moving.

Buying a ticket in advance was excellent! We jumped out of a cab, got right into a short line and started out tour. You don’t need to worry too much about being exact on timing. We were about 15 minutes late and there was no issue. Get Your Guide is so exceptional and we will use for every trip moving forward!
