Full description
Follow the Cable Car signpost around Lambton Quay to find the hidden Cable Car Lane in the heart of the city centre.  Wellington's iconic Cable Car travels through three historic tunnels and over three bridges. There are three intermediate stations; the residential areas of Clifton, Talavera and Salamanca. Victoria University of Wellington and Kelburn Park Fountain can be accessed from the Salamanca Station. Enjoy the panoramic views of Wellington city and the harbor from the top of the Cable Car. To get back down into the city, there are several walks through the hillsides of the Botanic Garden, including a beautiful 40-minute stroll back down to the city centre via the historic Bolton Street Cemetery and the Beehive. Or if you prefer an easier route back down, choose the return journey option. This allows you plenty of time to enjoy the views and explore the surrounding attractions at the summit before heading back.

It was a nice quick and easy to get around trip. Once we got to the top we went for a stroll down to see the tree house, playground, gardens and museum. The hike back to the top was hard but good for the excercise.. definitely recommend wearing active footwear, cos i had jandals on it made walk a bit more difficult. We spent around 4hrs up there. Enjoyed it for sure!

Walked all the paths that's built around the top of Cable Car Station. I highly recommend taking the Cable Car to the top and explore everything. My favorite area was the Tree House and the Begonia Gardens although the rose gardens needs some life it was under flowered and it needs some other lower flowers to bring out the beauty in the roses. Anyways I loved the whole trip, thank you Cable Car 🙂

The cable car experience can be found off lambton quay on cable car lane. You board the cable car and take the 3 minute ride to the top or vice versa from the botanical gardens down. The tunnel has a lovely lighting display and is a short enjoyable ride. Once you reach the top there is the cable car eatery, museum and botanical gardens. The cable car station has lovely views of the city. Overall the ride is short and sweet and there is plenty to see once you reach the top.
