What People Are Saying About Wat Pho
Security wise, my husband nearly fell in the River when disembarking because only one men was keeping the boat close to the shore with a rope. He lost his balance when he put one foot on the tire hung from the dock and fell. Fortunately I was still in the boat and was able to help him not falling in the water by pulling one of his leg in the boat. What a nightmare! Never again.
For sure you are visiting the touristic hotspots, so there are a lot of tourists. But with Joe we had a local guide (who was a buddhistic monk for 5 years in the temple of the lying buddha), who told us a lot of interesting things, that were beyond the commonly known facts available in the internet. With this tour you get a well organized, condensed overview of the most important attractions, so you have time to explore the other days the huge and even more exciting rest of the city. I recommend to do this tour at the very beginning of your stay, since the guide will help you afterwards to find a public transportation to your next destiny and e.g. show you the thing with the many different boats on the river or the chaotic bus system.
Positive - small group (4 persons) - boat tour was very nice - guide was very informative and knew a lot
Views of Bangkok from the river and canals, fishermen and Temple guarded catfish. Then informative tours of The Great Palace and Wat po with a guide who was once himself a monk. a lovely way to spend a morning.
With only 1 weekend to spend on sightseeing, I knew I wanted a competent and knowledgeable guide and a good itinerary; I got both with this tour. The tour group was small, and our guide was a former Buddhist monk who clearly treasured his culture and history. I liked the mix of walking some, cruising on the river and seeing the Grand Palace and Wat Po. I felt we were well taken care of, and the knowledge I picked up along the tour was great. I highly recommend!
