It was amazing!—start to finish! The young man in the office explained how to navigate on the trail, mentioned the stop-offs for resting and refreshments and how to close out and board the boat as our final destination. He also was available by phone when needed. The ride was picturesque! You see the Potomac River, beautiful forest and the cute downtown area of Alexandria VA. There are so many opportunities to take AMAZING photos. The trail has sunshine and plenty of shaded areas. There were just enough people on the trail to never feel isolated or crowded. The boat ride at the end was a welcomed surprise! I was expecting a ferry. It was roomy, had top and bottom seating (indoor/outdoor). The drinks and snacks are just what you need at the end of the trip— with a smooth hour-long ride with minimal talking. It was just enough to highlight the famous sites but it gave moments to just relax and take it all in. I LOVED IT!!
Great bike trail from D.C. to Mt. Vernon-well laid out and easy to follow the trail. Super relaxing to ride and is virtually flat. Bikes were in good shape and I cycle a lot on my own time. We picked up the bikes in Old Town Alexandria and headed out on our own from there. The bike hand off probably could have gone better-there was no repair kit and we had to ask to adjust the seats and ask for a tool. I asked what if we have a flat and the staff person gave me a cell phone number to call. The whole trip is almost all by the Potomac River and you can see Osprey nests and Osprey in the trees. There are not a lot of people on the trail either some runners and just 1-2 cyclists for the trip. We got to Mt. Vernon and toured and then had lunch at the Inn. I had been to Mt. Vernon before so we mainly walked the gardens. The Inn lunch was delicious and similar fare to the time period at Mt. Vernon. We took an Uber back and the bike company has the option to pick up the bikes at Mt. Vernon
