Full description
Discover the enduring tribute to the men and women that have dedicated their lives to defending the ideals of the United States of America with a tour of Arlington National Cemetery. Explore more than 600 acres of hallowed ground that once belonged to George Washington's adopted son, George Washington Parke Custis. In 1857, Custis left the property to his daughter Mary Anna Randolph Custis, when it became the family home for her and her husband Robert E. Lee. Throughout its history, the grounds have been used for various purposes, including serving as a camp and headquarters for Federal Troops during the Civil War, and as a safe haven for slaves transitioning to freedom after abolition. Arlington National Cemetery held its first military burial on 13 May 1864, and is now the final resting place for more than 400,000 active duty service members, veterans and their families. Honor the men and women who gave their lives in service at 6 strategic stops, with an additional 3 stops on weekend tours. • Marine Corp War Memorial • President John F. Kennedy Grave • US Coast Guard Memorial • Pershing Grave • Memorial Amphitheater • Robert E. Lee Memorial • Sections 54 and 55 (weekends only) • Columbarium and Niche Wall (weekends only) • Section 60 and 9/11 Memorial (weekends only)

Our trolley docent was so good we stayed on his trolley for the last 3/4s of the tour. The trolleys were running about 15 minutes apart so we never waited long for one at our stop. All of the employees we met were polite. I appreciated their reverence in the cemetery.

Glad we decided to do the tour...

However, we should’ve waited to buy the tickets and receive a Military discount. I was under the impression that there was a possibility that they could be sold out but that wasn’t the case. Also, I added the tickets on my phone to my “wallet” however you have to stop and wait in line to get physical tickets so that was kind of useless. The tour itself was nice and I enjoyed the commentary. So much better than our group of 10 (including seniors and children) walking those hills on a hot summers day!

    Well Worth It!!!!

Arlington Cemetery was an amazing and humbling sight to see. Using the trolleys made it much easier to navigate the cemetery without having to walk too much. The information the guides provided while on the trolley was very informative and made the ride even better. I would suggest riding the trolley to anyone who comes here...worth every dollar!!
