It was located at the Roman Empire's northern border (called Limes), at the mouth of the Rhine river. Today, Katwijk is still a fishing place with the most beautiful boulevard of the Netherlands. The famous museum is located in the center of the old fishing village and is housed in a spacious and recently expanded complex. A former, monumental shipowner's house is the eye-catcher here.
