Enjoy a huge diversity of dive sites ideal for scuba divers of all experience levels, and marvel at the spectacle of undersea gullies and canyons home to some of the world's most incredible flora and fauna. Discover wondrous caves unreachable from the shore, and absorb the moving sight of the shipwreck of the SS Wairarapa, the wreckage of a steamer which collided with Miner's Head, the northern tip of the island. Look out for a wide variety of crustaceans, including the colossal packhorse crayfish, which can grow up to a meter in length.
