Take the opportunity to visit the estate and descend into the most subterranean cellars. The tour start from Civitavecchia port/area. You will drive north-east with your English-speaking driver, through the beautiful landscape of Lazio&Tuscany regions. After about a 50 minute’s drive, you will arrive in Montefiascone with its 600 meters of altitude. From the top of the village you can enjoy a spectacular view over the lake. Montefiascone is also famous for being one of the most important stages of the Via Francigena, exactly 100 kilometers from Rome, the final destination of the pilgrimage. But the fame of Montefiascone is also and especially linked to its vineyards and the legend of wine "Est! Est!! Est!!" In 1111 AD Henry V of Franconia, King Germany, was traveling to Rome with his Bishop Johannes Defuk that is very passionate about wine. Once unpon he asked the his servant Martin to precede him looking for the best wine and, just found, signal it with the words "est" which in Latin means "there is". When he arrived in the town of Montefiascone, the servant found wine so good that he repeated the signal three times, accompanied by six exclamation marks: thus the famous "Est! Est!! Est!!!". After the wine tasting and sightseeing after 15 minutes by van we arrived to Civita di Bagnoregio. It is called the "dying city" because the land on which it stands is slowly falling away and will inevitably disappear when the final pieces crumble into the spectacular Valle dei Calanchi below. Visiting Civita di Bagnoregio means immersing yourself in a suspended, nostalgic and evanescent atmosphere: the ancient village still retains corners of wonder and peace and gives beauty to every step, between buildings and stone houses, artisan shops, narrow alleys overlooking the valley that offer the best of them at sunset, when everything is colored by a magical light. Picking you up at your hotel in Rome at 09.00 am., or Fiumicino Airport, will drive you for a private 8 hours tour to Civita di Bagnoregio (1.30 hr far from Rome) and Orvieto. Once at Civita, you will have to walk for 7-8 mnts on the pedestrian Bridge (€5 each to enter) before arriving to this little town that being on a sinking vulcanic Hill, will disappear in the Next future. From here will drive for 30 more minutes, to Orvieto, old Etruscan/medieval town, where you will have lunch (not included in the rate) and will walk around to visit its gothic Style Cathedral (€5 entrance fees), visit the underground Etruscan city possibility (€8 each) and go for wine tasting and ceramic stuff shopping. Back to Rome in the afternoon around 05.00 pm.
