This full-day tour of the mighty Danube is ideal for people who want to combine history with nature and would like to enjoy some of the most beautiful countrysides in Hungary. You will see historic monuments and art memorials while your guide provides a lively narrative of Hungarian life. At Esztergom, the northern gate of Budapest, you will pause at the largest cathedral in the country and see the burial sites of famous cardinals as you gaze across the water towards Slovakia. Cross the river and border into Slovakia to see the stunning view from the opposite side.  You will visit the city Visegrád where you will learn about life in the Middle Ages while enjoying spectacular views of the Danube Valley. Additionally, this is the city where you will be provided with your lunch, a 3-course Hungarian meal. You will stop at the artists' village in Szentendre, a baroque city located where the Danube River meets the Pilis Mountains. Wander the narrow streets to soak up the magical atmosphere and catch panoramic vistas of the river. Browse the shops of the village before the return journey to Budapest. Travel from 15th May until 31st October will be on a relaxing boat cruise, a fitting way to arrive back in the city center. In case of low/high water levels, the return to Budapest will be by bus.

On this unforgettable tour along the Danube, make stops in Visegrád, Esztergom, and Szentendre. Explore the architecture and history of the places you visit alongside a guide. See the Danube Bend and walk along medieval narrow streets. In Visegrád, walk close to the 750-year-old stones of the former Royal Residence (entry fee not included). On the way back, stop by the artist's village of Szentendre. It is a small baroque city at the gate of the Danube Bend, at the meeting place of the Danube River and the Pilis Mountains, situated in a beautiful natural environment. Walk around the baroque settlement, built on medieval ruins, and go up the narrow streets to a panorama point to look out over the Danube. Enjoy the special atmosphere of this village before the trip concludes.

Discover the artistic town of Szentendre (often referred to as the “Artists Village”) during a half-day tour along the Danube River. Travel back in time as you walk through the baroque town center. Pop into souvenir shops, discover restaurants, coffee shops and art galleries in the many listed buildings. Take a cozy walk on vintage streets beloved by artists since the 18th and 19th centuries. Afterwards, climb aboard the scheduled public boat (every Friday, Saturday and Sunday tour) and enjoy a scenic view as you cruise back to Budapest city center. On Tuesdays, you will come back to Budapest by bus. Boat cruise is available every year from 15th May - 31st October.

Journey through Hungary's history, experience a unique section of the River Danube, commonly referred to as the ”Danube Bend”. Start off by seeing the city of Esztergom from another perspective during a photo stop in Slovakia. Then head out in the comfort of an air-conditioned bus and enjoy the remarkable city of Esztergom, home to the largest Catholic church in the country. In addition to experiencing a great view of river valley, you will also have time to enjoy a 3-course lunch in the city of Visegrád. Afterwards, you will continue on to the magical artist’s village of Szentendre, where your guide will show you the downtown area with its cobblestone streets. At the end of the tour, return to Budapest either by boat on every Friday, Saturday and Sunday (from 15th May to 31st October) or by bus on every Wednesday (from 15th May to 31st October). In case of extremely low or high water level on the River Danube, the return to Budapest will be by bus as well.

Embark on a full-day, guided hike just outside of Budapest through the Danube Bend, including hotel pickup and drop-off via an air conditioned and comfortable van. A memorable day for lovers of nature and the outdoors awaits. Spend the day in the volcanic Visegradi Hills, where the memory of the old volcano still pervades. The volcano is no longer active, so there remains no danger. The starting point of the hike is at a tiny, romantic village on the coast of the Danube, called Dömös. Begin with the steepest climb of the day while you're still feeling fresh. This is a challenging uphill section, so if you are not in a good physical shape it may be exhausting for you. After the climb, you'll find yourself on a ridge that offers beautiful panoramic views over the river and surrounding mountains. As you look around, check out the huge volcanic rocks that were left behind after the ancient eruption. After a few hundred yards more, climb to Predikaloszek, the summit with some of the best views in Hungary. This place is very famous among locals and visited the whole year through by nature-lovers. Stop for a snack at the lookout and take in the amazing scenery. After refueling, a nice and long downhill trek is waiting for you through a wild and untouched valley. During the descent, observe the power of water; see how it created ravines in the soil of the forest. We close the day with the one of the most visited natural attractions of Hungary that is the Ram gorge. Thirty meters high rock formations and waterfalls are waiting for you in the cool and green canyon. We climb up through waterfalls with the help of ladders and rails. Adventure for a lifetime!

After pick-up at your accomodation by a private car or minibus we drive an hour to the famous town of Visegrád, once the Capital of Hungary and the headquarters of the Kings. There we leave the car by the Danube river, enter the dense forest of giant, age-old trees and proceed the cca. 90 mins hike to the castle, situated on a high cliff Right Over the River with breathtaking scenery. See the most-famous river of Europe as it cuts its way through mountains! We elevate 230 meters in 3.5 km then arrive at the castle itself, where access and marvel the views. You will have time to take countless photos and optionally visit the wax exhibition of feasting kings, and the museums of hunting and of middle age arms. Later we can have Food and Coffee at a burger place just by the Castle or first walk back down to the car (60 mins, downhill) and have lunch at a local restaurant with Hungarian specialities where they cook equally well Fish and Beef dishes and bake Pizza. Then with 15 mins drive we arrive at the Best SaunaHouse around Budapest, where you can treat yourself after the outdoor adventures and enjoy the hot and elegant ambience. They offer several different sauna rooms: - Finnish sauna (90 Celsius) - steam bath (85 Celsius) - saulty sauna (45-50 Celsius) - infralight sauna + Plunge pool to cool off between the sauna sessions. They also have a bar with drinks of all sorts. Following the sauna we have a 40 mins drive back to the accomodation where you can finish your rich day. Riding to Szentendre by bike from Budapest offers a fantastic way to experience the natural beauty and cultural richness of Hungary. We provide you with a 30 gears Trekking Bike, Hot Tips for your journey and a Google Maps route, which can be easily shared and used in offline mode! Follow the EuroVelo 6: This popular cycling route runs along the Danube and is well-marked. The ride is approximately 25 kilometers and typically takes around 1.5 to 2 hours at a leisurely pace. If you choose to ride back to Budapest, then double your distance. Highlights Along the Way: Roman Ruins in Aquincum: Shortly after you start, you can stop at the ancient Roman city of Aquincum, located in the Óbuda district. It's a fascinating open-air museum. Római Part: This riverside area in the northern part of Budapest is popular for its casual atmosphere, food stalls, and riverside bars. It's a great spot for a break and a snack. Üröm Hill: If you’re up for a slight detour, Üröm Hill offers stunning panoramic views of Budapest and the surrounding areas. Dunakanyar (Danube Bend): As you approach Szentendre, you’ll get to enjoy the scenic beauty of the Danube Bend, a picturesque section of the river. Return Options 1. Bike: If you're up for it, you can bike back to Budapest the same way you came. The ride back is just as scenic. 2. Boat: Take a scenic boat ride back to Budapest. Check the schedules for the Mahart Passnave company, which operates regular services between Szentendre and Budapest. 3. Train: The HÉV suburban train runs regularly between Szentendre and Budapest’s Batthyány Square. It’s a quick and comfortable option if you’re tired from the ride.
