Hvar Wine Tour + Dalmatian Dinner

7. Hvar Wine Tour + Dalmatian Dinner

The ancient Greeks and Romans were already growing grapes and producing wine on Hvar in 300 BC. This gave them safety, food and medicinal wealth. Vineyards are all over the island. Strong wind and sun are ideal conditions for producing the best quality wine. The wine tour begins in Hvar town with a drive to the other side of the island to the island's most important wine region. Further on, you'll visit two of the most famous Croatian winemakers. The wine tour includes wine tastings in two wineries of your choice (depending on availability). In the Sv. Nedjelja village, by the waterside, the Plenković family formed their horticulturist company in early 1986. Their vineyards are to the south of Hvar island and on the Makarska vineyards below Mt. Biokovo. Here you will have a chance to see an astonishing underwater wine cellar overlooking the bottom of the sea. You will have the opportunity to taste 4-5 different wines including Croatia's only Grand Cru with the islands finest local appetizers. Jelsa is a small coastal town which has a very proud and long wine-making tradition. The Tomić family and ten other people from the island of Hvar work in the winery. They cultivate indigenous grapes, but experiment with new ones as well. They are constantly enhancing the production of red, white and rose varieties with modern technologies, but pay particular attention to Prošek, the original Dalmatian wine made from selected and dried grapes of the highest quality local varieties. In the wine cellar you will have the opportunity to taste 4-5 different wines together with a specific wine guide, who will describe the individual wines and provide all information needed with island's finest local appetizers. Situated in Vrboska, the Carić family have been involved with vineyards for as long as they remember, however it was not before Vino Hvar was established that they started producing their own wines, “Carič wines”.  They have 5-hectares of vineyards in a specially designated wine growing area known as “Vinogorje Hvar.” Their wines have an individual story from the vineyard to the winery. You will have the opportunity to taste 4-5 different wines together with a specific wine guide, who will describe the individual wines, and provide all information needed with the island's finest local appetizers. After the wineries, you will enjoy a spectacular traditional Dalmatian dinner in the charming abandoned village of Malo Grablje or in Konoba in an olive grove.

Fabulous day out (& worth the early start)! Boat was brilliant - with just 12 of us on it, there was so much space. Staff were friendly & attentive, food was amazing & you could drink your fill in wine/beer & soft drinks if you preferred. Expensive, but in our opinion, definitely worth it!

The experience of this trip was really fantastic. Enough time everywhere to look around and lunch was very well arranged! The plus point of this tour compared to others is that they really look for the quieter bays where you can quietly enjoy the beautiful surroundings.

Wonderful day with a super nice crew! the stops are splendid. music on board, unlimited drinks and alcohol. The midday meal is very good and authentic in a small cove of fine sand. I recommend this walk!

Had a very nice day with a nice group. Everything was very well arranged and the boat itself was very luxurious. Friendly staff and really beautiful locations seen

A really perfect day trip! We had a lot of fun on the boat. You didn't have to worry about anything and could just enjoy the ride and the different spots.
