Full description

Vilnius is a beautiful city, renowned for it's green spaces and Baroque architecture. It is also a very old city with lots of history, which nuances are best presented by a local Lithuanian. We recommend starting your tour where the history of the city began 10,000 years ago (!) at the Cathedral Square.

Walking through important buildings, streets and other objects you will find out how Lithuania emerged from the swamps to become the biggest country in Europe, how it came to its fall, what was the situation during the Soviet occupation and what the situation is now.

Meeting point

In the Cathedral Square, there is a metal Gediminas monument, a man standing next to a horse. The guide will be waiting for you there, wearing a guide's license on a red strap.

  • This is a walking tour, as it is believed that Old Town is best explored on foot
  • Wear comfortable shoes and check the forecast beforehand
  • The standard duration of the Old Town tour is about 2 hours. Let the guide know if you'd like to for any reason shorten the tour or have a little break at any point, it's a private activity and it will be done.
  • You can choose to add the Republic of Užupis, then the tour will run a total of about 2.5 hours (necessary to inform us in advance to make sure it's available)
  • The duration of the tour can and does vary to some degree depending on the size of the group and how fast you walk Different times of day or week, as well as events can affect availability of objects we see and visit
