Our tour guide Ieva was amazing. She explained she has a history degree and trained for 6 months to be a guide. She was knowledgeable, passionate, balanced, engaging and humorous. The tour developed my understanding of the occupation period, especially with her personal family experiences and her historical interpretations. She effortlessly and professionally managed the group (19 but felt much less). Tour was 2.5 hours and we had a short comfort break after 1.5 hours. The tour was such excellent value for money. We gave a tip, as a few did (definitely not expected as we had to wait a while to give it to her as she stayed afterwards to answer questions) I would happily say the tour was worth more than we paid. The context of the occupation, by it's nature, is heart wrenching. However, given it is so recent and with parallels to ongoing events today, it was so important to learn first hand from Ieva and in such an objective way. I cannot recommend this highly enough. Thank you Ieva
The guide was very knowledgeable. Her understanding and explanation came from her own family and the stories and experiences that had shared with her. The pace was good and stops were varied so that we got a full picture of the impact of Soviet occupation. Highly recommend.
