Full description

This full-day tour starts at 09.00 AM when you’re picked up at your centrally located Vilnius Hotel. After about an hour’s drive you’ll reach the Ukmergė District, stopping at a park established to remember those who fought against the Soviet regime. You’ll see crosses dedicated to the partisans, to the most important dates of Lithuanian history and to famous individuals, such as Pope John Paul II and US President Ronald Reagan. Learn about the symbolism of the cross in Lithuanian culture and history. Continue to the Siauliai area, where you’ll visit the Hill of Crosses, one of the most popular sightseeing attractions in Lithuania. Enjoy lunch at local restaurant and taste traditional Lithuanian dishes. After lunch you’ll head back to Vilnius arriving at around 5:00-6:00 PM.

Ci ha fatto scegliere i tempi della giornata, così da renderla perfetta per noi. Abbiamo apprezzato anche il ristorante locale in cui ci ha portato (Zarija) che è stato il migliore della nostra vacanza. La guida ci ha spiegato i piatti della loro cucina. La collina delle croci davvero suggestiva. Un bellissimo ricordo della nostra vacanza in Lituania.

Andres was a fantastic guide and he took care of us really well, from picking us up at the appointed venue to dropping us safely near our hotel. He shared a lot of information yet it was easy to listen to him, he also brought us to a really nice lunch place with a beautiful view. Although it was a full-day tour, most of the time was spent driving to and from Vilnius. Thankfully, Andres gave us plenty of time to explore the hill of crosses and lunch. Would be good if we had more time at the park because it was beautiful too. Other than that, it was a great tour and money well-spent. Thank you Andres, it was a wonderful experience!

I only booked this tour very last minute as my balloon ride was canceled and honestly wasn’t expecting much…I was wrong. The tour guide was extremely well informed and I learned a lot about Lithuanian history. The crosses in the partisan woods were interesting and the setting was stunning. While I am not a religious person, seeing the hill with 250 000 (!) crosses was still moving to me. I don’t think I‘d ever really understood people‘s desperation and hope in those days before independence. Highly recommended.
