Meet your guide on the stairs of Vilnius town hall and be introduced to the Jewish history of Vilnius. After getting to know your walking tour group and having a short overview of Jewish history in the city, the guide will take you through the narrow winding streets of the former Jewish Quarter to talk about Lithuanian Jews ('Litvaks') before World War II. Gaze at photos of the past, depicting what was once a vibrant Jewish community in Vilnius. After this, you will go to see the site of the Great Synagogue of Vilna and the area where Vilna Gaon used to live. Learn how during World War II the Jewish quarter was divided into two ghettos. Visit both ghettos and learn about Nazi rule in Vilnius. Moreover, learn about the development of modern Jewish community as well as how Lithuanians are dealing with the history today. If it's open, have the chance to visit the Vilnius Choral Synagogue. Afterwards, your guide will take you back to the area of the Big Ghetto to finish your tour near the Jewish Cultural and Information Centre for further exploration or bring you back to the starting point of the tour.

The tour starts next to Gediminas monument at the Cathedral Square. As your guide takes you out of the Old Town you will see the former Palace of Concerts and Sports - a brutalist Soviet-era building which housed concerts and basketball games back in the day. Your tour continues along the river with some spectacular views towards the Green Bridge which used to be famous for its Soviet propaganda statues which were taken down recently. You will explore places often overlooked by most travellers and discover the profound impact that Soviet rule had on the lives of ordinary people, as well as its influence on Lithuania's culture and architecture. The guides will show you where former Lenin's Square was located and how it has changed after the declaration of Independence. And finally, you'll finish the tour next to Seimas (parliament building) which was one of the spots where Lithuanians defended their independence in 1991.

Start your trip from Vilnius Cathedral Square. Sit back and enjoy a comfortable ride to your first sightseeing stop: the Hill of Crosses. Continue your trip in Latvia with a visit to Rundale Palace, one of the most stunning Baroque treasures in Latvia. Explore this brightly-colored building surrounded by an extensive and splendid garden. The Rundale Palace Museum and Garden attracts masses of tourists and is deservingly called a „Versailles of Latvia“. Enjoy a break at Bauska Castle, an impressive example of military architecture. End your trip at Latvian Riflemen Monument in Riga.

Vilnius is a beautiful city, renowned for it's green spaces and Baroque architecture. It is also a very old city with lots of history, which nuances are best presented by a local Lithuanian. We recommend starting your tour where the history of the city began 10,000 years ago (!) at the Cathedral Square. Walking through important buildings, streets and other objects you will find out how Lithuania emerged from the swamps to become the biggest country in Europe, how it came to its fall, what was the situation during the Soviet occupation and what the situation is now.

Enjoy this tour and take the opportunity to see town vital for the history of Lithuania. You will explore Trakai with its wonderful Island castle, traditional Karaim food at the restaurant, Uzutrakis mansion, and Hill of the Angels. You can also enjoy a Boat trip in Trakai (for additional charge). Lunch and entrance fees are not included in the price. The castle is famous for its gothic architecture and its special location – it stands on an island on Lake Galve, one of the deepest lakes in Lithuania. The view of the historic structure is straight out of a fairy tale. You can reach the castle by crossing the long wooden bridge. In the winter the lake freezes over and becomes a natural skating rink. You can also take in a special view of the castle from a yacht. Visit the museum inside the castle to explore the exhibitions of the Grand Dukes of Lithuania, various archaeological findings and artefacts, as well as a collection of art. In the summer there are medieval festivals as well as various events and concerts in the castle’s courtyard. Užutrakis Manor is one of the brightest and best-preserved manors in Lithuania. Established and restored on the shores of Lake Galvė, the ensemble of the manor and the park reflects the spirit of 19th century Lithuanian nobility. Count Juozapas Tiškevičius, together with his wife Jadvyga, established Užutrakis Manor at the beginning of the 20th century after being inspired by the unique Trakai landscape. Hill of Angels - the place for fostering human devotion and spirituality. It is spotted with plenty of finely crafted wooden angel sculptures, wrought sun-like crosses and life trees decorated with traditional national symbols. 18 angel sculptures found a new home on the Hill.

During this private day tour you will be able to explore the most interesting sites in the surrounding areas of Vilnius. The tour will start from Paneriai memorial park, where thousands of Jews from Wilna were killed.  The Paneriai or Ponary massacre was the mass murder of up to 100,000 people by German SD, SS and Lithuanian Nazi collaborators, during World War II. The murders took place between July 1941 and August 1944 near the railway station of Ponary, now known as Paneriai, a suburb of what is today Vilnius, Lithuania. After the tour in the park, you will head to the second capital of Lithuania, where today you can see the most beautiful castle, on the island in the lake. Here, you have the possibility to enjoy lunch in traditional Karaim restaurant or take boat trip around the lake. After, the group will head to the temporal capital of Lithuania - Kaunas, which is second largest town in Lithuania today. You will also visit Pazaislis monastery. After this, you will head back to your accomodation in Vilnius.

Although we will continue the journey through the cozy streets of Vilnius, the tastings will bring you as far as the shores of the Baltic Sea by the help of tender marinated herring filet two bite sandwich. After the tasty encounters with some of the essential ingredients in the contemporary Lithuanian cuisine, your culinary exploration will be complemented with traditional naturally infused spirits (for palate cleansing), with the flavors you hardly ever tried before. You will also be introduced to the importance of Jewish communities’ influence to Lithuanian cuisine. The tour will be rounded off with a savory surprise and if you wish - upon an optional order - a pint of Lithuanian beer.
