You will pick up your Premium Scott mountain bike (or electric bike) and begin your journey among the vineyards of Penedès, with a breathtaking view of the “Massif de Montserrat”, the most sacred mountain of Catalonia. With your guide, you will discover the most beautiful wine routes in the area, uncover the history of the Penedès region and learn about the local wine culture and the elaboration of Cava, the most iconic drink of Catalonia. During our tour, we will have the first tasting in an authentic family-owned winery. You will discover the world of natural & biodynamic wines and experience their unique taste. After a scenic bike ride, we will reach the 2nd winery. Our guide will show you around the cellar and explain in detail the wine/cava making process. You will then try several premium organic wines and cava to discover the taste of the region, paired with some local snacks. After the tastings, we will return to the city center in an easy ride along the vineyards. Take advantage of the rest of your afternoon to have lunch and discover the charming coastal town of Sitges, only 25 kilometers away. If you’ve already had a big day, feel free to have lunch in Vilafranca del Penedès and take the bus back to Barcelona on your own (you will be back in Barcelona at 16.00).

Both wineries are known for their production of high-quality wines. Vega De Ribes is a family-owned winery that has been producing wine since 1954. Their cava is made from the local grape varieties Macabeu, Xarel-lo, and Parellada, and are aged for at least 18 months. Vega De Ribes also produces red and white still wines, which are also of high quality. Villadelops is another family-owned winery that has been producing wine since the 14th century. Their wines are aged in oak barrels and have a unique character due to the use of wild yeast during fermentation. Villadelops also produces a dessert wine, which is made from overripe grapes that have been affected by noble rot. Vega De Ribes and Villadelops are excellent examples of the quality and diversity of wines produced in the Penedès region of Catalonia. Upon arrival, we will explore the Montserrat Monastery, a historical treasure more than a thousand years old, located in the mountains of Catalonia. Founded in the 11th century, this site is home to the Virgin of Montserrat, “La Moreneta”, and offers exceptional panoramic views from its 720 meters above sea level.
