The concert itself was excellent., the orchestra, singers and conductor were all very good. Unfortunately, we could hardly see anything from where we were sitting. We were right in the corner behind a statue and had to stand most of the time. Also although the dress code was supposedly a formal/black tie event nearly everyone in there were dressed very casually with jeans and trainers. We could have gone more casually too and not packed extra formal clothes in our suitcases that we didn't need. Just write 'no dress code' so people know, like they do for other concerts I checked out!!
Overall the performance and opera singer, Sera Gosch, were just amazing! Our seats were pretty good considering we purchased Level C. Since there was no one behind me, I was able to stand up during certain portions. My main complaint would be about check-in. They have you line up outside in single file, then they open three doors, and everyone falls out of line and charges through. There are no rope lines to guide you through the coat check and ticket pick-up, so it's complete chaos. I have no idea why they can't organize this better.
Very much enjoyed the concert, costumes, singing and music especially the finale. One suggestion would be to focus the lighting more on the Orchestra and dim the lighting over the audience as from where I was sitting the Orchestra did not stand out and it would be wonderful to see them clearly in all of their colourful costumes. The staff had to work hard at stopping those disrespectful people in the audience from continually trying to take photos when clearly they knew that it was not acceptable to do so.
Seating space even in superior section of this ornate beautiful concert hall is cramped. Hanging your coat costs you a little money but mostly time. Taxis and transportation are plentiful. Music and costumes are great. I loved the performance both classical music selections and opera. Enjoyed it.
It was a bit uncertainty about the quality of our seats as the ticket could not be redeemed with the pre-booked voucher until one hour before the concert started. But we got very good tickets, so overall it was a good experience.
