Full description

Experience a romantic sightseeing tour by bus and boat from Vienna, introducing you to the beauty of the Wachau and Danube Valleys in Lower Austria. Wachau Valley is a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site for its architectural and agricultural history, and it also attracts epicureans with its food and wine. Explore the River Danube as it flows around picturesque villages and steep vineyards. Pass by many ancient castles testify to the former importance of the river. One of these is the ruins of Dürnstein Castle, where, according to legend, Richard the Lionheart was kept imprisoned, and was eventually freed by his faithful minstrel Blondel. Then take a romantic boat trip along the legendary Danube and go to the heart of the Wachau wine-growing region at the old city of Krems. A highlight of the tour will be a visit to the Benedictine Abbey of Melk, one of Austria's most famous Baroque buildings, and winner of the award for "Best Historic Destination of the World" in 2008.

The day of the trip was September 23, 2021. The time for lunch was planned too short. It would have made sense if the tour guide had advertised lunch on the ship more and made it clear that there was not enough time for the meal in Melk. Otherwise it was a nice day.

Great experience. So many things to visit and see, my tour was in 3 languages so a bit hard to follow, but probably during non corona times they would have more busses because there wouls be more tourists. The guide was amazing at switching between all 3 languages, italian, german and english, Ican only imagine how difficult it was for him. The danube boat rode was great and relaxing there are plenty of castles to see and the views are great. Best to eat on the boat, I think you can even eat your own food, so you will have time yo visit the city afterwards, otherwise if you eat at the restaurant you will not have time to visit the city and it is absolutely gorgeous, you must.

Everything was nice, Dürnstein city was beautiful. Our guide Thomas was really knowledgeable. The boat trip was less pleasent than I had in mind. It was so warm and not many seats were available on the deck. The Melk Abbey was really nice and everything was very well explained by outmr local guid. In general I had a nice experience and I am satisfied.
