Full description
Peek into the unknown world of Fiakerei (horse-drawn carriage driving). Who are the Fiakers? Where did they come from? And most importantly, where are they going in the evening after work? Get to the bottom of these secrets, and many more, by visiting the original Viennese Fiaker horse stable. For the first time, you'll have the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes of the traditional two teams of "Lohnkutchen" (the original horse-drawn taxi!) Explore the unique Fiaker Horse Center in Vienna's 11th district of Simmering. An exclusive barn tour will give you insight into what's going on in a traditional Viennese Fiaker family business. Then, take a ride in an original Viennese Fiaker - the ubiquitous passenger transport of the 18th century - back to the city before the work of the Fiaker starts. During the carriage ride, you'll pass through the up-and-coming St. Marx district, heading to the city centre via the famous Ringstraße. You'll be dropped off at Michaelerplatz in the city center, a perfect place to continue your exploration of all of Vienna's top sites.

We visited the stables at the beginning of March so it wasn’t that busy. Which was nice. We We’re able to stroke and talk to some of the horses. Considering it was a working stable it was very clean. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The ride back was relaxed and enjoyable.

The tour is highly recommended. it is interesting to see how the horses and carriages are prepared for the day. we were lucky enough to see a horse that didn't have to get out, was washed, and got another loose horseshoe attached. Since it was very cold we decided to leave the roof of the fiacker closed, otherwise the coachman could have explained more. Otherwise someone in the stables will probably have to take a tour that was unfortunately not there, but the coachmen were very nice and answered all of our unseee questions in detail. Everything seems to be done here for the animals that they feel comfortable. We did the tour with a clear conscience.

Very nice experience, because you can visit the stables and ask questions directly. We were told a lot about the Fiaker. Then drive into the city center via side streets. You don't necessarily see the sights, but just visiting the stables, the horses and the carriage ride are recommended. We came by subway and walked the rest of the way.
