Full description
The Belvedere in Vienna is one of the leading museums worldwide. Its famous art collection includes works ranging from the Middle Ages to the present day. The unique complex, with its two palaces of the Upper and Lower Belvedere and extensive gardens, is one of the most stunning Baroque architectural marvels in the world. Highlights include the world's largest collection of Gustav Klimt paintings as well as prominent works from the periods of Viennese Biedermeier, Austrian Baroque, Vienna around 1900, and French Impressionism. Now, for the first time in decades, the museum will once again host large-scale special exhibitions that you can admire on your visit. In the 18th century, the Austrian general Prince Eugene of Savoy commissioned the renowned Baroque architect Johann Lukas von Hildebrandt to build the complex. After the death of Prince Eugene, Empress Maria Theresa acquired the entire complex and transformed the Upper Belvedere into an exhibition venue for the imperial collections – making it one of the first public museums in the world. The Lower Belvedere, formerly the residence of Prince Eugene, is home to illustrious exhibitions. The Baroque gardens of the Belvedere rank among the most beautiful in the world. The main garden is situated between the Lower and the Upper Belvedere and extends over three large terraces. The Belvedere park is also home to the Botanical Garden and the oldest Alpine garden in Europe.

See and quietly enjoy emblematic works and learn about many other very interesting works, the works and the stories behind them. We have been lucky enough to see the snowy gardens and I think it is a different experience and perspective from seeing and being in the palace and its surroundings.

I didn't really like the fact that there was an entry time to respect. In fact, if you arrive even 10 minutes early, they won't let you in. Another thing I didn't appreciate was the fact that there was a coming and going of groups. It's fine to walk around the Museum but when you enter the room of "Il Bacio" you should be able to benefit from the peace and silence necessary to "connect" with this work and admire it properly. Above all in respect of the artist. For groups they should, in my opinion, at least in this room, access only after reservation in the time slots indicated to them...

the place was amazing! we skipped the line, as we have booked our tickets in advance. the only problem was, that although in the activity description, it says audio guide, when we got there, we were told, that the audio guide is not included with our ticket, and we had to bye extra, that is 5€ per person. other than that, i would recommend to get your tickets through Getyourguide
