Full description
Enjoy a unique tour following in the footsteps of Orson Welles through the original filming locations of the classic film, "The Third Man." Even more than 50 years after its première, the dark post-war epic about Harry Lime (Orson Welles) remains one of Vienna’s film classics. Director Carol Reed deftly transformed English novelist Graham Greene's screenplay into an authentic and artistic film of post-war Vienna. Many illustrative pictures guide in the footsteps of Harry Limes through the winding, cobblestone plastered alleys of Vienna’s old town centre. Visit the most important film locations, learn about the exciting international genesis of the film and about the “other Vienna,” the war ruins, the allied forces, the black market, and the spies from east and west. Experience an unconventional, lively, and exciting film and city tour!

Excellent tour. Very informative. Longer than 2 hrs though, closer to 3 hours by the end. If your not fit it could be a struggle. We were a group in our 60’s and struggled by the end, but that was probably more of a reflection on our lack of fitness.

      Absolutely fascinating.

My husband is a huge fan of the film so I booked this mainly for him - I haven’t seen it for years . But the tour guide - Kersten I think- was marvellous. Her English was faultless and she did give a brief précis of the movie and characters at the beginning. The tour was just over 2 hours, mostly flat walking, and included lots of filming locations, the truth behind where the director had faked things eg the sewers, and a great history of post war Vienna. The area covered is mainly the old town south of Stephanplatz. Even if you’ve never seen the film there was something to learn and the guide was very engaging. The cemetery and the Ferris wheel at the Prater are not included. Nor the sewers, but it was clear the REAL sewers in Vienna only had a small bit part anyway. We didn’t have time for the museum sadly. Highly recommended.

This tour is fantastic, with a very informative guide who paced the tour well and gave good details and information about the film, how it was shot In Vienna and particularly how the movie related to Vienna in its period of international occupation following WWII, with some lovely stories on how the the cast and crew worked whilst in the city. Do allow yourself slightly longer than the advertised 2 hrs, Guid have the tour in both English and German. A throughly enjoyable activity Pete B
