Breathe in the fresh country air as you cycle by historic towns, charming villages, and spectacular scenery. Stopping at local wineries, sample dry and fruity whites as well as other delicacies, like the valley’s famed apricot jams and liqueurs. Explore the medieval town of Dürnstein, a well-known Wachau highlight, complete with a castle where Richard the Lionhearted was once held prisoner.  Or perhaps swim in the Danube and then enjoy lunch at the local tavern, a traditional family-run restaurant. When your time in the valley is up, take a relaxing train ride back to Vienna. Know before you go

  • Tour operates in all weather conditions. Rain ponchos are provided.
  • Lunch at a local restaurant is available for an extra €17 (cash only), payable to your guide on the day of the tour. Other lunch options are also available - please ask your guide for details.
  • The bike route is approximately 14 miles, or 25 kilometers, long. It is not a strenuous ride, and it is suitable for all ages. There are stops throughout the tour, so you are not riding for the entire day. The longest you bike without stopping is for 30 minutes at a time - depending on the direction of the wind.

I thoroughly enjoyed this bike tour - it was a key highlight of my Vienna and Austria trip. Our guide was Tim and he was knowledgeable, interesting and had a great sense of humor. I appreciated the relationships he has cultivated with the wineries we visited. They were clearly glad to see us and introduce us to their fine wines. The valley is gorgeous and Tim guided us through the valley, stopping at various points, telling us about the history of the dynasties, families, viticulture, and how the climate affects the grapes. Additionally, the bikes are easy, effortless and comfortable to ride. I highly recommend doing this tour and if you can have Tim as your guide, you will have a fabulous day

Had a great day riding around about the valley drinking wine. It did end up raining on and off which we weren’t prepared for (and we’re soaked), but our guide quickly rode back and got us all ponchos to continue on. Because of the rain we also didn’t have as many stops, but the guide filled us in on the info once we were under cover. Made for a fun day though and we dried off in the end. I think the guide could have been slightly more engaging especially at the beginning when you’re waiting for the train, to help everyone get to know each other. By the end of the day we were all friends though. Lunch was good, but it’s more compulsory than optional. Also think that could just be included in the price. It does say it’s all ages but I do think it’s more suited to adults. There’s a few small hills that many struggled on, so be prepared to sweat a little too. Wine was delicious and the tastings were very informative. Overall had a fabulous day. Solo traveller friendly

Great trip. Nicolas was very good at guiding our group. We had rain and thunder yet we were still able to complete majority of the tour. I would prefer to do this in a private group, up to six, but the large group was also fun. Wachau valley is beautiful and it is worth seeing. I was also surprised at the great quality of wine. Nikolas chose great boutique winery to visit first. My kids also loved it. I highly recommend
