This is a lovely bike ride though the Tuscan countryside. I strongly recommend it to anyone who is up to a little biking and is looking for an activity outside of the city of Lucca. The app with directions for the trip is extremely easy to follow and Montecarlo offers the perfect midway break for lunch and browsing through local shops. The ride is quite steep at times and certain paths were in poor shape for short stretches, however it is still very picturesque pushing your bike for a bit.

This ride is not for the faint of heart. We think we are in decent shape (definitely not professional athletes) but we don’t ride bikes a ton. This was pretty challenging for us. It comes out to about 32 miles and it took us until about 6pm. Obviously we stopped in Montecarlo and had lunch and a couple drinks. We had some bad weather that slowed us down substantially as well. We were expecting more wineries, but only saw a couple and didn’t have time to stop because of the weather and distance remaining. I would recommend this to people with good/above average fitness as there are some decent climbs along the way. There is some riding on busier roads as well so if that bothers you, I’d recommend getting a car or choosing something different. Overall it was a fun and challenging experience, but if you are looking for a wine and dine experience this is definitely not the tour for you. This is an all day workout.
