Ventimiglia: entrance to Hanbury Botanical Gardens

The Hanbury Botanical Gardens are located on the promontory of Capo Mortola (Ventimiglia) a few kilometers from the French border on an area of about 18 hectares. The promontory enjoys an exceptionally mild climate; the existence of different microclimates has favored the planting and acclimatization of essences from all over the world.Created by Sir Thomas Hanbury in 1867, the gardens have become one of the most important acclimatization parks in the world. In 1960 the Italian state purchased the complex from the heirs, which, in 1962, was entrusted to the International Institute of Ligurian Studies. In 1979 that institute gave up the onerous task of post-war reconstruction, and later, in 1987, management was permanently entrusted to the University of Genoa.

This day trip was simply magnificent. If a quick getaway to Italy is what you're looking for from Nice, this excursion is for you. Laurent was a very welcoming and friendly guide. He knows the history of his region and the neighboring towns that we visited well, which he carefully took the time to explain to us. He also made several recommendations to us and was very attentive to the group. We highly recommend this excursion and if you can, ask Laurent as a guide.

The markets were truthfully just okay. The town of San Remo is interesting but the real highlight of the trip was the town of Dolceaqcua. Fantastic medieval town that ressembles a megastructure of bridges and tunnels. I have never seen a town like that anywhere in the world having traveled over 50 countries — it’s a maze inside. Great day!

All the places visited, the entire history of these places, was meticulously detailed by the excellent Live Harmony Guide (Cecília), a sweet person who is very competent in her service.

Trip was perfect and quite impressive. Marion was an excellent guide.

Cecilia was a fantastic host, showing us many magical sites.
