Full description

Be an artist of one day as famous Venetian painter Nicola Tenderini escorts you through the most romantic corners of Venice. Throughout your experience, you will be taught how to paint its marvelous landscapes and most famous spots. You will meet the artist at the workshop, and following a small presentation about his artistic life and the experience, he will take you to your painting location where you will start to create your personal artwork. The first step will be the study of the sketch, the essential starting point for a good painting. Later you will pass to colors, discovering how the light is a color as well and the wonderful effect it will have on your painting. Throughout your lesson, the teacher will be next to you to show and explain secrets that will help obtain the best pictorial effects such as water reflection, color shading between clouds and sky, or the details of lights and shadows using the great technique of watercolors.

It was a rainy day in Venice and our guide provided us with a nice studio space to paint. He communicated ahead of time that we would be painting indoors because of the weather. He is a great teacher! I have experience with pastels, but never water colors. I also have never done landscapes. He walked us through drawing the landscape with pencil and explained how to measure and divide the spaces. When it came time to paint, he helped us to find the shadows, showed us how to mix the paint and apply it to the paper. He showed us different techniques with the brushes and moving the water colors around on the paper. Overall it was a wonderful experience and we both want to continue to learn this wonderful painting medium!
