Our guide was very knowledgeable, she is obviously some kind of art enthusiast, so we learned a lot about the paintings on the walls and ceilings. The tour in the Basilica was rushed and she did not give us time to go over to the left side of the balcony, and did not mention that the view was much nicer from there (as other guides did, as we overheard).

The meeting point was very disorganized. I initially went to the right place to check in and the man in the stall directed me to someone else who directed me back to the same man in the stall. People in the line not knowing I already waiting in line made comments “There’s a line” when the other man guided me right back to the front of the line. It started the tour on a bad taste. Monica, our guide was lovely and gave a lot of information. She seemed as though she enjoyed what she was doing. We booked the 3 hour tour but the tour lasted only 2 hours. There was complimentary tickets to the museum but we did not use this. We got great information from our guide about the city of Venice in general which was a bonus. There were lines for all entrances but we were able to skip with the guide. Would recommend booking this for peak seasons however the meeting point needs to be more clear to avoid frustration in people.

Is the Basilico impressive? Yes. Is the Doge palace stunning? Absolutely. But that’s also the case without a guide. What is the main advantage of the tour? First of all the possibility to skip waiting lines. Then both the Basilico and the Palace have certain elements and details that you do not notice without a guide. And it is a great possibility to see the highlights in only a few hours. Useful tip: how to find your guide? Because several groups for different tours assemble on the same spot. Report to the brown wooden stall in front of the Post Office, with the yellow sign “meeting point”. They will tell you your group number and point you to the person distributing the audio equipment for different groups (in a shirt with “Staff TuriVe” on it). The audio device is set to your group number / channel and your guide will introduce himself over audio.
