Gina our tour guide was excellent. Her enthusiasm for and expertise in history was evident. And her scope of knowledge was not simply limited to Venice. She noted that she has a PhD in history and it showed. Kinda felt like I was on a really interesting school field trip but for adults. Wear your running shoes to keep up. Worth every step.

There was a bit of a delay because they obviously wanted to combine several appointments into one, then there was still high water and - since that happens again and again in Venice - the guide seemed a bit haphazard to me, until everyone who wanted them had matching boots, then it passed more time again. But the tour itself was very interesting and St. Mark's Church was simply beautiful.
