Full description

Discover the magnificent buildings of Venice. Take a walk through the imposing Doge's Palace and explore the impressive Basilica.

Start at the Doge's Palace. For more than 800 years it has been the seat of the Doge and the Government of the Venetian Republic. Admire the halls of power in which a part of Europe's history was written during the Middle Ages.

Learn all about the intrigues and lies told behind the walls of the palace. In the second part of the tour, visit the basilica. The church is an excellent example of the Byzantine style.

Admire the golden mosaics that earned the basilica its nickname the "Golden Basilica", and learn all about the myriad of art treasures from the western and eastern worlds.

At the end of the tour, keep your Doge's Palace ticket to visit the Museo Correr, Museo Archeologico Nazionale, and Monumental Rooms of the Biblioteca Nazionale Marciana in Saint Mark's square at your own pace.

The Basilica of San Marcos is spectacular... All covered with tile inside and part of the outside... Quite complete since you access the interior and go up the "balcony" of the upper floor The Ducal Palace, very good too. .. huge and highly decorated rooms with paintings by the artists of the time The guide very well too

The meeting point was easy to find (link in the app) and the preparation of the groups went quite quickly. The audio support is recommended because there is so much to learn. Our support was just great. Her enormous knowledge paired with humor made the tour a great experience. Background information about the buildings, their origin as well as about the paintings, rulers and current affairs were unique. Because of the maps we didn't have to queue anywhere. Thanks

The skip-the-line ticket seems essential. Indeed, even in February (rather off-peak period), there was a long queue. Then, the visit may be quite quick and may be less interesting without any explanation. There are indeed a few legends in the Doge's Palace, but they remain succinct (one date only, for example). We enjoyed the visit to both sites as we rarely take a guide. The visit lasted about 2h30 and the ticket gives free access to the city museum and the library (on the same day). I therefore recommend the visit despite its rather high price. PS: our guide was very available and spoke French very well
