Full description
The Palazzo Ducale, or "Doge’s Palace," represented  the seat of Venetian political power for centuries. With this 1-hour tour you will get entry to the splendid rooms, ornately outfitted in hundreds of masterpieces of art, where the Duke and his council controlled the fate of a 1,000-year-old republic. Listen and learn as the palace comes to life in the company of an expert guide, who will show you the halls of power, plunging you into a very particular historical context – the European Middle Ages, and the immediately following centuries. Be surprised by the rich details of the gold staircase and by the remarkable realism of the scenes created by the many artists who decorated the building. Relive the anguish of the prisoners crossing the famous Bridge of Sighs, and enter the Venetian prisons, famous for hosting Giacomo Casanova, among many others.

    Excellent tour!

Filippo gave us an exceptional tour of the Doge's Palace, including the Bridge of Sighs and some of the dungeons. It lasted longer than an hour (more like 90 minutes - possibly left a little late), but these minor things were worth it for the information we received. Filippo was accommodating, informative, easy to follow (literally and figuratively) and kind. This was just enough to learn about the location without feeling overwhelmed with information. He walked through significant art and history to tell a complete story. The pace felt comfortable. I would recommend this tour and this guide!

    Avoid the long lines

It was great to go past all of those people standing in line in the hot sun. The Doges Palace is very warm in the summer so keep that in mind. The guide was knowledgable and friendly. It's too bad the apartments were closed because that would have been a nice feature to see.

    Good tour, recommended

Only major complaint was that our tour guide was TINY and she did not carry any sort of flag... so it was very easy to lose sight of her in the huge crowds and among other tour groups. Fortunately one of the other tourists in my group was a very tall man dressed all in red, and he was good at keeping sight of our tiny tour guide. So as long as I kept sight of HIM (which was easy), I was okay.
