Get ready to discover Murano Island, witnessing artistry in action in its glass factories and taking part in the lampwork tradition by creating your own Venetian bead during an artisan workshop. Enrich your visit with a guided walking tour to see iconic Murano sights.
Murano is one of the most visited islands in the Venice Lagoon thanks to the reputation of its glassmaking industry. During this unique hands-on experience, you’ll get to explore local glassmaking factories away from the most touristic spots.
Step into one of the oldest glass factories in the world, active since 1295, and get an authentic look at lampwork and how tradition is combined with contemporary design and creativity.
Far from being stuck in the past, glass making still runs in the veins of the inhabitants of the island: experience first-hand one of the oldest techniques ─ lampwork ─ thanks to a workshop run by a local artist.
With an artist as your guide, walk through the secrets of this work and join a workshop where you can learn to make your own Venetian bead, taking part in keeping alive a 17th-century artistic practice (price per person is €30 to be paid on-site).
You can decide to take the workshop, although is not compulsory. If you do decide to join the activity, you will get to take home the Venetian beads you created as a souvenir. Rest assured that lampwork tools and the oven are used alongside safety and protection equipment.
Finally, finish off your day with a guided stroll around Murano, discovering some hidden gems, like its churches, and walking off-the-beaten-track to must-see spots.
