Our guide Christine, a local, was fantastic. She was professional, clear in her explanations and gave a lot of insider tips. We left at 9.30am and were back by 2.30pm. Approximately 1.5hours per island. I think if you are in Venice for more than 1 day it’s worth checking this out. I enjoyed the glass blowing, the lace making was a bit haphazard.

I would say it is worth going to Murano and Burano but not necessarily on a guided tour. We had Suzanne who gave us useful running commentary about Venice and the islands and lots more info on local customs, she was great. If you go to the glass factory at the weekend then beware that they only have one person doing a quick demonstration, so if you want to see it fully functioning then go during the week. The lace tour was a 5 minute stop in a shop where you could watch someone stitch some lace, easy to give a miss. Burano itself is pretty to look at but you could really just catch a boat over there, you don’t need to pay for a tour - same thing for Murano. Having said that the private boat was much more comfortable than the water taxi! Overall a pleasant way to spend the morning.

Our Guide, Francesca Gin, was the best! A true local, with so much knowledge and passion for the city. During the boat rides, she explained the History of Venice, curiosities about the other islands and traditions of the locals. Burano was a true surprise. So colourful and genuine. In Murano, the glass making demonstration was also very impressive. We definetly recommend this experience!
